Civil ceremonies, chapel services, private gatherings, non-religious services and memorial services

A Celebration of Life offers a meaningful and personalised way to honour your loved one. Dubock Funerals will work closely with your family to create a service that reflects their life, personality, values and individuality.
Our experienced funeral arrangers will meet with you to plan a thoughtful and fitting ceremony, guiding you through all options and helping you design a service that feels right for your family.
Whether you prefer a simple, informal gathering or a more structured ceremony, we can assist with experienced civil celebrants to lead the service. You are also welcome to engage your own celebrant if preferred.
We take pride in supporting families of all beliefs and backgrounds, with care, professionalism and respect.
Funeral Venues and Locations
Funeral services may be held in a wide variety of venues and locations, allowing families to create a service that feels personal and meaningful.
Chapel Funeral
Cemetery and crematorium chapels across Melbourne offer a simple, dignified setting for a Celebration of Life or civil chapel funeral service.

These chapels are typically non-denominational, comfortably seat both intimate and larger gatherings, and are equipped with sound systems and screens for music, photo tributes and video presentations. We regularly engage and use the chapels at Fawkner Memorial Park, Altona Memorial Park, Lilydale Memorial Park, Springvale Botanical Cemetery and Bunurong Memorial Park,
All of these chapels offer live-streamed services, allowing family and friends who can’t attend in person to take part in the service from anywhere.
Our team will arrange and book a suitable chapel and time for your families requirements.
Family Home Service
Holding a viewing, funeral or memorial service at home is an increasingly popular choice for many Melbourne families, and for some cultures it’s an expected and important part of the funeral process.
A home service can take many forms: a small gathering in the lounge or garden, a viewing before the funeral moves to another venue, or the full service itself held at home with a celebrant or family member leading proceedings.
For some cultures and religions, it’s important for a loved one to be brought home — sometimes for several days — before the funeral. Our funeral arrangers will talk you through what’s involved, including space and access considerations, timing, and any practical requirements, so the day runs smoothly and your family can focus on being together rather than logistics.
For families who’d like their loved one to stay at home, or be brought home, prior to the funeral, we offer CuddleBlanket — a cooling blanket suitable for stays of 2–3 days. For longer stays, we recommend embalming and preservation treatment, and our funeral arrangers can guide you through the best option for your circumstances.

Private Family Farewell
Some families prefer a smaller, closed farewell attended only by close family — without a public notice or wider invitation.
A private family farewell can be held at a chapel, at home, or at any location that suits, and can be as simple or as considered as you like. It may include a celebrant, a family member acting as MC, readings, music and tributes — or be a brief, quiet gathering focused purely on being together.
If you’d prefer to hold a private funeral now and a public memorial or celebration of life later, we can help you plan that too — giving your family time before hosting a wider gathering, with no pressure to do everything at once.

Celebrant Led Services
We have experienced, in-house civil celebrants available to lead a meaningful, appropriate service — working with you and your family to suit your requirements, whether that’s a celebrant-led ceremony on the day, a more informal gathering, or a family member or MC guiding the proceedings. You’re also welcome to engage your own celebrant if you prefer.
In some cases, family members choose to lead the ceremony themselves, which can work well in the right circumstances. We’re happy to work with you either way, though we generally recommend having at least one person act as an MC to help the day run smoothly.
